1.3 million U.S. servicemembers working unpaid due to government shutdown

Approximately 1.3 million American military servicemembers are currently working unpaid due to the shutdown of the U.S. government. If a budget deal is not reached by October 15, these servicemembers will miss at least one paycheck.

The shutdown affects 1,333,030 active duty members and 766,336 members of the National Guard and reserve components.
