#BREAKING | In the ongoing Czech parliamentary elections, initial vote counts indicate that populist billionaire Andrej Babiš"s ANO movement is leading with 36-41% of the votes after the first hour of tallying. The ANO movement is performing strongly in rural and industrial regions, with its only significant shortfall occurring in the capital, Prague.
Babiš, who has been described as a "Trumpist" leader and is known for his criticism of Ukraine aid and EU policies, is positioning himself for a potential return to power amid rising voter dissatisfaction over inflation and energy costs.
The ruling SPOLU coalition is trailing with 16-19% of the votes, while the far-right SPD is receiving between 8-11%. Other parties are fragmented, collectively garnering less than 13% of the votes. Final results are expected later today, and coalition talks are anticipated as Babiš has ruled out forming pacts with current coalition partners.
