China has announced an extension of visa-free travel options for Russian citizens, allowing them to enter Hainan Province for up to 30 days without a visa when booked through local travel agencies. This policy was confirmed on September 2, 2025, and also includes 15-day visa-free visits to Suifenhe, Heilongjiang, for tour groups.

In addition to these travel options, a 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit policy is now available at select ports for Russian nationals. This initiative aims to bolster tourism and strengthen economic ties between China and Russia, particularly in regions that are popular with Russian travelers.

Previously, similar policies have been implemented in various parts of China as the country seeks to attract more foreign visitors. The extension of these visa-free options comes at a time when global travel is rebounding, and countries are looking for ways to stimulate their tourism sectors.

The impact of these changes is expected to be significant, as they simplify travel logistics for Russian tourists, potentially increasing the number of visitors to China. This move reflects broader trends in international travel policies, where countries are increasingly adopting more lenient measures to attract tourists. For instance, recent developments in the U.S. regarding visa policies have also drawn attention to how nations are adjusting their entry requirements to boost tourism.
