Darth Vader"s iconic lightsaber, used in the Star Wars films "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi," has been sold at auction for a record-breaking $3.6 million in Los Angeles. This sale marks the highest price ever paid for a Star Wars item at auction.

The lightsaber, crafted from a 1950s camera flash attachment, was expertly modified by the production team for the films. The auction house, Propstore, confirmed the remarkable sale, which took place earlier this week.

In addition to Vader"s lightsaber, the auction featured several other notable items from popular films. Highlights included the Noisy Cricket from "Men in Black," which fetched $315,000, and Spider-Man"s suit from the 2002 film, sold for $289,000. Other significant items included Sauron"s helmet from "The Lord of the Rings" and Ellen Ripley"s flamethrower from "Aliens," both of which sold for $289,000 and $252,000, respectively.

This record-setting auction underscores the enduring popularity of the Star Wars franchise and the growing market for cinematic memorabilia. As collectors continue to seek iconic pieces, the demand for such items shows no signs of waning.
