The European Parliament"s Commission on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection has voted to ban social media access for individuals under the age of 16. This measure will apply across all member states of the European Union.
In addition to the social media ban, the Commission has proposed other regulations aimed at protecting minors online. These include the prohibition of engagement-based recommender algorithms, as well as a ban on loot boxes and gambling advertisements directed at minors.
