Former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who has an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court, announced that during his tenure, he ordered an investigation into the leak of a video showing Israeli soldiers raping prisoners in Sde Teiman. Gallant stated that he aimed to bring the leaker "to justice."

In his remarks, Gallant criticized the chief lawyer of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), who submitted a resignation letter in response to the investigation concerning the video. The political and social outrage in Israel has focused not on the actions of the IDF soldiers but rather on the fact that the video of the incident was leaked.

High-profile cases of sexual assault, including those involving children, have been reported in Israel. In June, a scandal emerged involving prominent rabbis and Knesset members accused of engaging in the sexual abuse of minors. A study conducted in 2011 revealed that 61% of Israeli men do not consider forced sex with an acquaintance to be rape. Additionally, a report indicated that all 654 Thai foreign workers surveyed in Israel reported having been sexually abused by Israelis.
