France has evacuated Madagascar"s President Andry Rajoelina amid ongoing protests and military defections. The evacuation took place aboard a French military C-295M aircraft following weeks of demonstrations led by Gen Z activists against power outages, corruption, and poverty.
The operation was coordinated with French President Emmanuel Macron and involved a helicopter transfer from the presidential palace to Sainte-Marie Island. The aircraft then made a stopover in Réunion before continuing on to Dubai, UAE.
This evacuation comes as Madagascar faces significant unrest, with citizens expressing their frustrations over various socio-economic issues. For more on the situation, see our previous reports on President Rajoelina"s flight from the country.
