Germany has signed a €2 billion ($2.3 billion) contract with EuroSpike for the purchase and maintenance of Spike anti-tank guided missiles, according to a report by Haaretz. The deal, which was executed through NATO"s procurement agency, allows Germany to bypass its ongoing arms export restrictions on Israel.
The contract is facilitated by a joint venture in which German firms Rheinmetall and Diehl hold an 80% stake, while Israel"s Rafael holds the remaining 20%. This arrangement enables Germany to access Israeli-designed technology despite the existing embargo.
This development comes amid broader discussions regarding military procurement and export regulations within NATO member states. For related coverage, see recent developments on ammunition pledges to Ukraine.
