Hong Kong authorities have announced a 36-hour closure of the city"s International Airport as a preemptive measure against the Ragasa Super Typhoon, which is classified as a category 5 storm. This closure, set to begin on Tuesday, marks the longest shutdown in the airport"s history, surpassing the previous record of 20 hours during the 2023 Saola Typhoon.
In addition to the airport closure, Chinese authorities in Shenzhen are preparing for potential tsunamis and flooding. Residents in coastal cities are reportedly rushing to stores to stock up on food, water, and other essential items, resulting in empty shelves.
