Hungary"s economy stagnated in the third quarter of 2025, with the country"s GDP showing zero growth, according to recent data. This outcome fell short of expectations for modest economic expansion and presents a challenge for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán as elections approach in April.
Despite government initiatives aimed at stimulating the economy, including wage increases and subsidies, the ongoing stagnation and a cost-of-living crisis have contributed to a rise in support for the opposition Tisza party, which is currently leading in recent polls.
The economic situation is likely to be a significant factor in the upcoming elections, as voters respond to the pressures of stagnation and rising living costs.
