Starting September 25, the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia will undergo a regionwide internet shutdown lasting at least five days. This outage is due to urgent upgrades on the Sakhalin-Kamchatka fiber-optic cable. Rostelecom will conduct extensive work on the land-based infrastructure to mitigate future outages caused by cable erosion or damage, as stated by regional authorities.
This upgrade is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the reliability of internet services in the region. The planned maintenance aims to prevent disruptions that have previously affected connectivity.
