Meta invests $1.5B in AI data center in El Paso, Texas

Meta Platforms has announced a $1.5 billion investment in a new AI-focused data center located in Northeast El Paso, Texas. This facility will be the company"s 29th global site and is expected to have a capacity of 1 gigawatt (GW). Construction is set to begin soon, with the center anticipated to become operational by 2028.

The investment is projected to create 100 jobs and will utilize sustainable cooling technology. This development is part of Meta"s broader strategy to expand its footprint in Texas, where the company has already invested over $10 billion in response to increasing demand for hyperscaler AI services.
