Poland has demanded that Germany halt prosecutions related to the Nord Stream attacks, stating that continuing these legal actions is not in Poland"s interest. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, head of Poland"s national security bureau and an adviser to President Karol Nawrocki, expressed this position in an interview with the Financial Times.
Cenckiewicz emphasized that if Germany seeks to align its Russia policy with Poland and other NATO allies, it should cease the prosecutions. He stated, "From our point of view, this investigation doesn’t make sense, not only in terms of the interests of Poland but also the whole [NATO] alliance." He further noted that prosecuting those responsible for the Nord Stream sabotage might serve German justice but could also contribute to "Russian injustice."
This demand comes amid ongoing tensions regarding energy security and geopolitical relations in Europe. For further context on this issue, see recent developments in the Nord Stream investigation.
