The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have captured Babanusa and the Heglig oilfields, which were the last positions held by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in West Kordofan state. This development solidifies the RSF"s control over West Kordofan, contributing to the de facto partition of Sudan.

The RSF"s control allows both the RSF and SAF to concentrate their resources around el Obeid in North and South Kordofan. In response, the SAF is attempting to prevent a potential RSF offensive on el Obeid along the central axis while also preparing its own counteroffensive.
