Russia is redeploying its military forces away from southern Pokrovsk as of September 24, 2025. The 29th and 36th Armies have shifted south to reinforce operations towards Pokrovskoye. The 90th Tank Division has established positions near the Vovcha River, while the 74th and 137th Brigades have taken over the previous positions of the 90th Tank Division.
Since the redeployment began, Russian forces have made significant territorial gains, advancing up to 9 miles (approximately 15 kilometers) in some areas. The 90th Tank Division is now entirely positioned south of Ivanovka-Novopavlovka. Additionally, the 35th, 55th, 74th, and 137th Brigades have moved from southern Pokrovsk towards Novopavlivka, leaving only the 15th, 30th Brigades, and elements of the 27th Division in the southern Pokrovsk area.
This shift in troop deployment may be attributed to Ukraine reallocating units from this sector of the frontline to address a breach made by Russian forces in July, located north of Pokrovsk. In recent days, Russian troops have reached the Yanchur River, capturing the hamlets of Novogrigorovka, Novovasylovka, and Okhotnyche.
