The Russian army has reportedly begun employing a new tactic to locate Ukrainian FPV drone crews, according to UAV expert Sergey Beskrestnov. This tactic involves the use of an FPV drone equipped with a large battery that flies around the front line, hovering over fields and villages while recording video on an SD card across several frequency bands.
Upon its return, the recorded video is analyzed to identify the locations of FPV pilots who operate with low VTX power. Beskrestnov noted that distant interception points may not detect these weak signals, but the radio reconnaissance drone is capable of capturing images effectively at milliwatt levels.
The crews controlling UAVs have become a priority target for both Ukrainian and Russian forces, as drones are currently a primary weapon in the ongoing conflict.
