Russian troops have resumed assaults in the Volchansk sector, successfully capturing the western districts of the city and advancing into the village of Synelnykove. This offensive began three weeks ago.
Securing Volchansk will enable the Russian army to push towards the town of Beliy Kolodez and Stariy Saltov. Additionally, Russian forces are conducting attacks across the Oskol River near the town of Dvurichnaya, targeting the town of Veliky Burluk.
These military actions pose a threat to Ukrainian control over the northeast corner of the Kharkov oblast. They have the potential to reverse the gains made during the Ukrainian counteroffensive in September and October 2022, which resulted in the withdrawal of most Russian troops from Kharkov Oblast.
