Schiphol Airport"s Polderbaan runway was closed for 45 minutes on Saturday, September 27, 2025, after pilots reported a drone near aircraft at 12:10 p.m. One pilot indicated that the drone came within 50 meters of their plane.
Authorities, including police and a helicopter, conducted a search of the area but found no trace of the drone, which they suspect may have been operated by a hobbyist. During the closure, flights were diverted, and the runway reopened at 1:00 p.m.
Drone flights near Schiphol Airport are prohibited due to safety concerns. In 2025, there have been 22 similar incidents reported at Dutch airports.
