Spain"s Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska announced that the country will file a preemptive complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) regarding Israel"s interception of the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla. The flotilla, which included over 40 vessels and 500 activists, was detained in international waters last week while attempting to breach the blockade and reach Gaza.
Grande-Marlaska stated, "Any attack on individuals in international waters is a violation of both domestic and international law and the right to freedom," highlighting the protections afforded under maritime conventions.
This development follows the recent interception of the flotilla, which included prominent activist Greta Thunberg among its participants. The situation has drawn international attention and raised questions about the legality of such actions in international waters.
