Technicians have begun repairing the remaining damaged section of the Ferosplavna-1 power line near Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) under a ceasefire brokered by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This restoration effort is considered vital for nuclear safety, as it will provide the ZNPP with a backup power line.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi confirmed the commencement of repairs and noted that IAEA experts are on the ground monitoring the situation. The restoration of the power line is crucial for ensuring the safety of the nuclear facility.
The IAEA has been actively involved in overseeing nuclear safety in the region amid ongoing tensions. This repair work follows previous reports on the challenges faced by the ZNPP due to the conflict.
