Tehran is facing a significant water crisis as the Latian Dam has reached its lowest volume in decades, according to a report from Fars News Agency. The Latian Dam, which supplies up to 70% of the Iranian capital"s drinking water alongside the Lar and Amir Kabir dams, has seen a drastic decline in water levels.

After five years of severe drought and record-low rainfall, the combined reservoirs for the capital now hold only 258 million cubic meters of water, which is half of last year"s levels. This situation poses a threat to the daily water supply for approximately 9 million residents of Tehran. Officials have indicated that without a 20% reduction in water consumption, there may be a need for rationing and the potential for irreversible ecological damage.

The ongoing drought has exacerbated the water scarcity issue in Tehran, highlighting the urgent need for conservation measures to ensure the sustainability of water resources in the region.
