The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, has accused the United States of violating international law through airstrikes against vessels in the Caribbean and Pacific. These attacks, which are reportedly linked to drug trafficking, have resulted in more than 60 fatalities. Türk stated, "These attacks and their increasing human cost are unacceptable. The United States must put an end to them."
In recent weeks, the Trump administration has escalated its offensive against Latin American cartels, which it classifies as terrorist groups. This has led to heightened tensions with Venezuela and Colombia. The Pentagon has confirmed the deployment of the USS Gerald Ford aircraft carrier to the region to support operations that began in August.
