For the first time since 2005, the United States has deployed nuclear weapons to the United Kingdom. Several B61-12 Thermonuclear Gravity Bombs were transferred this week from the U.S. Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center in New Mexico to a new storage facility at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, England.

The B61-12 is a low-yield tactical nuclear bomb compatible with various aircraft, including the F-35A Lightning II, utilized by the 493rd and 495th Fighter Squadrons based at Lakenheath.
