The U.S. State Department announced today that it has designated four Iranian-backed paramilitary groups as Foreign Terrorist Organizations. The groups identified are Harakat al-Nujaba, Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, Harakat Ansar Allah al-Awfiya, and Kata’ib al-Imam Ali.
Prior to this designation, all four groups had already been classified as Specially Designated Global Terrorists sponsored by Iran.
