U.S. government considers designating Antifa a Foreign Terrorist Organization

The U.S. government is considering designating Antifa as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), according to a source not authorized to speak on record. This designation would provide the president"s declaration with more authority.

If designated, it would enable significant avenues for prosecution and sanctions against Antifa. The decentralized American Antifa networks are reported to collaborate with international partners to promote violent extremism associated with anarchist and communist ideologies. These networks allegedly solicit attacks on various targets and provide instructional materials on methods for carrying out attacks, including those aimed at infrastructure and government officials.

Furthermore, individuals who carry out attacks and cause fatalities are reportedly glorified and celebrated by Antifa.
