The White House has expressed support for Paramount Skydance in its bid to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. Other potential bidders may encounter significant challenges from U.S. regulators to ensure that Paramount successfully completes the acquisition.

Paramount Skydance is a media conglomerate formed by the Ellison family in July 2024 through the merger of Paramount Global and Skydance Media. Larry Ellison, the founder of Oracle and CEO of Skydance Media, finalized the purchase of Paramount in August 2025. Following the acquisition, Ellison appointed his son, David, as the CEO of Paramount Skydance.

Shortly after this acquisition, Larry Ellison acquired TikTok"s parent company, ByteDance, in another deal that received direction from the White House. Warner Bros. Discovery owns several major media properties, including CNN, HBO, and the streaming service HBO+.

Larry Ellison is known for his significant contributions to the Israeli Defense Forces.
