YouTube has settled a lawsuit with U.S. President Donald Trump for $24.5 million, resolving a dispute stemming from the indefinite suspension of his account in 2021. The suspension followed the January 6 U.S. Capitol riot.
The settlement was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Of the total amount, $22 million will be allocated directly to Trump, while $2.5 million will be distributed to co-plaintiffs, which include the American Conservative Union and author Naomi Wolf.
