Zambia and Mozambique have reached an agreement to jointly develop the 1,500 MW Mphanda Nkuwa hydropower project on the Zambezi River. The project, which is estimated to cost $4.5 billion, will be led by ZESCO from Zambia and EDM from Mozambique. The initiative aims to enhance regional power supply and facilitate power exports.
A Zambian delegation is scheduled to visit Mozambique next month to further advance the plans for the project.
This collaboration is expected to play a significant role in addressing energy needs in the region, as both countries work together to improve their power infrastructure.
