Ferry fire off Indonesia leaves three dead, 150 rescued from 280 onboard

A passenger ferry traveling from the Talaud archipelago to Manado caught fire off the coast of Indonesia, with 280 people on board. The incident resulted in three confirmed deaths, while approximately 150 passengers have been rescued, and search efforts are ongoing for the remaining individuals.

Witnesses reported that many passengers jumped overboard to escape the flames, according to the Jakarta Post. This accident comes just 16 days after another passenger ferry sank in the Bali Strait.
