The Romanian Ministry of Defense (MoD) has confirmed that only 1,000 American troops will remain in Romania, a larger withdrawal than previously reported by the Ukrainian newspaper KyivPost. Currently, there are 2,000 American troops stationed in the country.
The majority of these troops are deployed at the Mihail Kogălniceanu airbase in Constanța County, located near the Black Sea. The remaining troops are distributed between the airbase at Câmpia Turzii and the Deveselu Aegis anti-missile shield.
This announcement comes amid ongoing discussions about military presence in Eastern Europe, where security concerns have been heightened. For related coverage on military operations in the region, see recent developments regarding unidentified drones detected near NATO Camp Reedo in Estonia.
