UNIFIL has expressed “deep concern” following reports that Israeli forces crossed into Blida, southern Lebanon, early this morning. The advance north of the Blue Line has been labeled a “clear violation” of UN Resolution 1701 and Lebanese sovereignty.

Israeli troops reportedly conducted a nighttime incursion into Lebanese territory, resulting in the death of a Lebanese citizen while he was asleep. Following this, Israeli forces allegedly fired at French UN peacekeepers.

In response, French troops shot down an Israeli reconnaissance drone. Subsequently, an Israeli tank reportedly misfired in the direction of a UNIFIL outpost in Kfar Kila. Had the tank shell not missed, it could have resulted in casualties among UNIFIL troops.

France"s foreign ministry condemned the recent attack on UNIFIL positions, noting that similar incidents had occurred on October 1st, 2nd, and 11th.
